Noblet Beaugnier Tenor
Noblet Beaugnier Tenor
Beaugnier made Noblet tenor sax. Made in France and just overhauled with quality music medic pads and brass resos.
These are one of the true sleeper horns. Made in Paris and with its inspiration from the SBA with split key guards, a similar neck and an offset right hand.
I'm not sure the vintage but I will assume late 50's.
Original lacquer horn. It has age appropriate wear and a few resolders including the bell to body brace.
Now the horn is ready for serious use. Its tight with no slop in the keywork. It responds to a whisper of air straight down to low Bb.
It has a rich and tonally complex sound similar to an SBA. If you play them side by side you'll hear that the Selmer delivers more sound but at 5-10 times the cost of this horn. On its own it sounds excellent and lacking nothing. Some of the modern horns sound loud and one dimensional but this is a vintage French made horn with the qualities one would expect of such a handmade instrument.
The cost of the pro overhaul w/ brass resos comes very close to the total cost of the horn so its a tremendous value. You see these horns for less but needing the kind of work this one just had done by a quality tech who has done many horns for pro players.
The neck brace says Vito, there are other examples of Noblet/Vito horns in this era having a mismatch of the brand name sometimes.
A solid horn ready for serious use. Comes in a generic case.
Truly deserving of the sobriquet "A poor mans SBA".
