Selmer Mark VI Tenor #65xxx
This is a US-market Mark VI Tenor which shipped from Selmer Paris, fully assembled, in September 1956. It was engraved, lacquered and set up in Elkhart. Selmer Paris shipped roughly 1400 Tenors to the US in 1956.
Relacquered and then the engraving was recut by the great Sherry Huntley so it is visually gorgeous.
Extremely well cared for horn, both original neck and body are in exceptional condition.
Fully playing on a little used overhaul. This horn absolutely rips. It plays dark and it plays big. A huge mammoth tone for a VI. Come hear for yourself.
The most striking playing characteristic of this horn is how dark it plays. The tenors in this era were the darkest Selmer made, by the so called Brecker era they had noticeably brightened from a horn like this. The tone is very striking and unique to this period.
Comes in a Hiscox Series II case that protects it very well.
