1938 Selmer Balanced Action Tenor-Overhauled

$0.00

Selmer BA Tenor. 1938 Vintage. This is an original finish horn that was handstripped to bare brass. It was not buffed. I've shown it to a few very experienced people and this is the unanimous opinion. It has a low mile Emilio Lyons overhaul, just gone over and adjusted by Maestro Woodwinds. Playing at a high level. A very well cared for intstrument. Comes in a new BAM contoured case. This is a consignment in my possession. Local buyers are most welcome.

According to Doug Pipher "
Selmer 27256 is a Canadian-market Balanced-Action Tenor which shipped from Selmer Paris in Nov 1938. It was originally engraved in Paris and finished with a Permgold lacquer finish, but that finish appears to have been removed.
Selmer Paris shipped 15 Tenors to Canada in 1938. Nine of them were shipped without lacquer or engraving and the other 6 were engraved and finished with the Permgold finish prior to shipping.

This horn has exactly what people seek them out for. More warmth and darkness and more spread at the lower end than later Selmers. A fat clear core tone and a super responsive and rich player.
