Haynes wood piccolo

#6427 from  1921

This piccolo is in C and has been restored by David Welans, not only formerly of Haynes but the former tester, the most critical role in the shop. His work is so respected that Jean Pierre Rampal requested him personally to go over his flutes on each trip to Boston. He told me it is in incomparable condition with wood of a quality and density no longer available anywhere in the world. This wood was so heavy they could not take it out of the jungles by raft, it had to be dragged by elephants. Nothing like this is available or has been for more than half a century.

Mr Welans made the pads. The picc has been tested by skilled players including Mr Welans and the quality is world class. The head joint is original and the cut is original and near to pristine and up to shop standards. It is rare to find this combination of wood of this vintage, little used condition and a restoration by a world class expert.
