Selmer Radio Improved Bb Clarinet
From 1932 #L27XX matching on both joints.
All original barrel, bell, case.
This came from a now retired pro who traveled worldwide with Stan Kenton, Guy Lombardo and a founding member of the Navy Commodores.
It has just been serviced by Maestro Woodwinds in Boston Ma and play tested by the Maestro and is ready for serious use. This clarinet has a wonderful jazz and old time bluesy sound that is hard to match.
The instrument is free of cracks. You can see the one small chip in the bottom of the upper joint. I also see one possible hairline crack in the top tenon of the lower joint too small to photograph. Overall exceptional condition for its age and a wonderful sounding instrument. There are no cracks or pinned cracks around the toneholes or anywhere else.
The Portnoy mouthpiece, original facing, with Vandoren Master lig and Rico cap were what its owner selected for this particular instrument. He felt it matched up well enough that they should stay together.
Case is in good shape with its leather handle long gone. It comes with a used vinyl case cover, worn but fully functional that offers handles and zips up fine.
A fine vintage horn from when the wood was of the highest quality, unequaled by anything made today. A lot of horn for the money.
