Black nickel plating in excellent condition, much better than these closeup flash shots suggest.
Rolled tone holes, true rolled tone holes from prior to when they began to solder on separate rings.
The 97xxx serial number puts it in the JK "Golden Era" from 90xxx-100xxx.
The pads are old, really it needs a full job, you might be able to get by with a major pc but really I recommend getting an overhaul and doing it right. It is playing partially but not gig ready as it sits.
Mechanically and cosmetically it is in super nice shape, its just that the pads have aged beyond being viable.
